Research interests
I am currently completing a PhD in Digital Health and Care at the University of Bristol. My research interests focus primarily on the technology used to manage type 1 diabetes (T1D). My PhD began with a study exploring the challenges and opportunities of using management technology during life transitions (e.g. changing jobs, academic stages, and living situations), which was presented at CHI2023. The project has now shifted to focus on the potential role of smartwatches in T1D management. I believe that the user should be regularly involved in the designing process of chronic condition management technology and this is reflected in my current study that gave young adults with T1D a smartwatch to use in parallel with their T1D management. Not only was their device data collected but they were also involved in interviews and focus groups to understand their experiences using the smartwatch. The study will produce a dataset that will be made publicly available to facilitate further research in this area.
